Weather you are looking for a treatment for the face or the body there are two things that you have to prioritize.

1.First, is the treatment this can come in the form of a cleanser, serum, treatment, moisturizer etc. Which ever product you prefer you need to keep in mind that is you want to see results you NEED to be consistent. Here consistency is the key for the desired results.

2.The second most important thing to remember is to take preventing measures. This means measures that on the short and long term are going to prevent discolorations. Now, here is where sunscreens come into play. Your sunscreen should be broad spectrum. Broad-spectrum sunscreen acts like a shield, blocking both UVA and UVB rays from penetrating your skin. By doing so, it prevents the overproduction of melanin, ensuring that those pesky dark spots don't find their way onto your complexion. Your sunscreen for face and body should be at least SPF 30, anything less than that will not give you enough protection. This step is very crucial because it with help treating the discoloration you already have by preventing it from getting darker and also preventing future problems.
